Fast-forwarding to 3 months+ post Hurricane Irma and one can say that the British Virgin Islands has made a significant amount of progress towards “normalcy”. Resorts such as Peter Island Resort & Spa, Bitter End Yacht Club and Little Dix Bay may not reopen until late 2018 into 2019. With the closing or downsizing of businesses, comes the laying off of employees. Elmore Stoutt High School and other schools were ripped to shreds by Hurricane Irma, leaving thousands of students without a safe and comfortable place to learn and get an education.
The closet of an Island Girl only consists of one season, summer. When Fall Season comes around, envious thoughts fill my brain. The only thing I can put on are flip flops and crop tops while women in colder regions get to wear cozy sweaters and booties! Every year I would pin many fall outfit inspirations on Pinterest, while dreaming of strutting down 5th Avenue in those same outfit inspirations. Finally, this year I got to experience the Fall Season which allowed me to unleash my fashion dragon. I’ll be sharing with you my fashion tips to help you have a comfy yet chic Autumn/Winter season.
If you haven’t heard of Hurricane Irma, let me give you a synopsis. With wind speeds of 185 mph and gusts of 225 mph, Hurricane Irma ripped through and demolished the British Virgin Islands as we know it. Being the strongest storm ever to be formed in the Atlantic Ocean, this hurricane took many lives, along with the livelihood of the British Virgin Islands. Luckily, it didn’t take our strength and resilience.
Barbados is known for its beautiful dreamy sandy beaches, pristine turquoise waters, vibrant culture and sunny year round weather. It is also known for its amazing villas and hotels situated throughout the whole island. This island girl here had the opportunity to stay in one of those drool-worthy villas on the island!
