10 Years of Blogging.
Who would’ve thought that an essay competition would have been the catalyst to start my blogging journey? 10 years. 10 beautiful years of creating visual content for an audience that has not only grown over time but has also grown with me.
Why I started Blogging.
From a very young age I watched both my grandfather and father intricately document every moment of my life. From birthdays to family vacations. One could expect a few cameras to be present at any moment if you were apart of or around my family. One could say that they “influenced” me to document my life in the same manner. For the “traveller” and “writer” side of me, you can thank my mom. Mother always had us on a vacation while I was growing up. That created a deep passion within me for visiting new countries and learning about different cultures. She is also the main reason why I am able to paint a vivid picture of my travels by just using words.
I started posting photos of things I found beautiful on Tumblr in 2010 but I officially created my own blog on “blogspot” (IYKYK) in the year of October 20th (aka my birthday), 2013. Believe it or not, I got inspired to add “words” to my photos after winning an essay competition earlier that year. After using my father’s camera for years, he finally got me my own and the rest was history.

How we celebrated the 10th Anniversary and what’s to come!
For the 10th anniversary of my blog, we collaborated with Encanto Acapulco, one of my dream travel destinations. I spent four beautiful days reminiscing on how far I’ve come and where I plan to be in 10 years. It’s so crazy to think that the travel industry across the World takes me seriously. From features in travel publications like Atlas Obscura to Vogue Japan to working with tourist boards to collaborating with chain/boutique hotels, I couldn’t be more grateful.
I started this journey to be able to have a creative outlet and I’ve turned it into something bigger than that. I hope to continue creating beautiful inspiring content for all of my readers and viewers to indulge in. I want to create your escape. Thank you so much for riding with me for 10 years. I hope you stick around for 10 more years!
